SenTense Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data SenTense collects, why, and how it is used. By using SenTense you agree to this policy.
1. Data We Collect
- Display name and username — chosen by you at registration, stored on our servers.
- User ID — a randomly generated identifier assigned on first launch.
- Google ID — extracted from your Google ID token when you link a Google account. Your email address is never read or stored.
- Avatar photo — optional profile photo you upload.
- Quotes you post — text posted to friend groups, shared with group members and automatically deleted after 2 hours.
- FCM token — a Firebase Cloud Messaging token used to deliver push notifications.
- App activity — quote likes and group memberships.
We do not collect email addresses, phone numbers, location data, or payment information.
2. Why We Collect It
- To operate and provide app features (accounts, groups, quotes, widget).
- To deliver push notifications.
- To enable account creation, management, and recovery.
- For content moderation and fraud prevention.
We do not use your data for advertising or third-party analytics.
3. How Data Is Shared
- With other users: Your display name, username, avatar, and quotes are visible to members of groups you join or create.
- With Google: Google Sign-In is handled via OAuth 2.0. We receive only your display name and Google ID.
- With Firebase: Your FCM token is used solely for push notifications.
- With no one else: We do not sell or share your data with any other third party.
4. Data Retention
- Quotes are automatically deleted from our servers after 2 hours.
- Account data is retained until you delete your account, at which point it is immediately and permanently removed.
- Local data (favorites, widget settings) is stored only on your device and is not affected by account deletion.
5. Security
All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. We never see or store your Google password.
6. Children's Privacy
SenTense is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
7. Your Rights
- You can delete your account at any time: open the app → Friends tab → Profile icon → Delete My Account.
- You can edit your display name, username, and avatar from Profile Settings at any time.
- You can revoke Google Sign-In access from your Google account settings at any time.
- South African users have rights under POPIA to access, correct, or object to processing of their personal information.

8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. The effective date above will reflect the latest version. Material changes will be communicated via an in-app notice where possible.
